MIXED REALITY (XR)
The aim of FOTEC is to develop AR & VR solutions for manufacturing companies and to connect them to Industry 4.0. The automated display of simulated or real physical processes in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) displays measured values (or simulation data) in mixed reality. 3D models are processed in real time and displayed on a wide variety of end devices. This data can be both simple (characters, texts, etc.) and more complex displays (dashboard with diagrams, etc.) or displayed as 3D color gradients in real time.

- Support for the latest AR & VR hardware providers such as Oculus, Microsoft Hololens, Metalabs and other technologies
- AR with tablet or smartphone and image recognition with Vuforia SDK and other technologies

INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)
For research purposes, FOTEC deals with the exchange of data between devices that can interact with sensors/actuators - the so-called Internet of Things (IoT). The main focus is on the collection and transmission of data to a decentralized storage system (cloud or on-premise). The transmission takes place via wireless (LoraWan, GSM, WLAN, ZigBee, ...), wired systems or hybrid solutions from cable and wireless with the help of gateways.
INDUSTRY 4.0
With regard to Industry 4.0, FOTEC deals with research projects in the field of data exchange between production plants (machine-to-machine, M2M). In particular, the focus is on linking existing industrial protocols and systems (PLC, fieldbuses, MES layer, SCADA and ERP systems) and linking them to new technologies (mobile devices, cloud systems, mixed reality and AI).


ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
With regard to Industry 4.0, FOTEC places another research focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI). These include license plate recognition (image recognition) in logistics, speech recognition and gesture control in connection with mixed reality as well as the evaluation of sensor data regarding the Internet of Things.
BLOCKCHAIN (BC)
The so-called blockchain is used to transmit tamper-proof information to a database used by many participants. In this context, FOTEC focuses on the following key areas:
- Storage and depiction of a digital (product-)twin throughout the complete product life cycle
- Sensors, which monitor and irreversibly log status and position of individual goods/products (Supply Chain Management)
- With the aid of sensors, activities as well as status of machines and facilities can be monitored, which is an alternative to cloud-technology (machine and facility monitoring)


MODERN WEBDEVELOPMENT
For interactive web applications, FOTEC creates requirement analysis, concept development and feasibility studies followed by the realization of mock-ups, which can be technically implemented. With the help of latest state-of-the-art technologies FOTEC develops individual solutions which are tailored to customer requirements. For the purpose of data management specific database solutions are developed.

APPS FOR ALL STORES
Apps developed by FOTEC are implemented independently of the platform. Apps can be used on Android, iOs, Windows 10 (Desktop, Tablet, Hololens, Xbox and Phone), Linux and MacOs and no additional adjustments are necessary.


DEVELOPMENT OF CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS FOR TRAFFIC TELEMATICS
FOTEC supports customers and partners in developing and expanding vendor-specific parking systems, system extensions and establishing connections to third-party systems. Starting from parking control and parking garage systems to access and exit control systems for container terminals, FOTEC provides a wide range of skills.

The "Internet of Things" enables the networking of technical devices. It creates the interface between the physical and the digital world by integrating sensors and actuators. "Machine Learning" is also a sub-area of artificial intelligence, in which patterns are recognized on the basis of existing data and algorithms and solutions are developed. FOTEC supports small and medium-sized companies in the use of IoT, Machine Learning and Microsoft Azure and in the first steps towards Industry 4.0.
